Salford Ladies Reserves 5 - 0 Rossendale

The spectators were witness to a good game of football with both sides contributing some good movements and skill.

The match kicked off with good pace and with excellent conditions both teams were sound in the opening half hour giving nothing away.  Anne Beagan came closest to scoring with a snap shot on the edge of the penalty area which was scuffed wide.

After some fearless defending by Claire Beard the ball found its way to Becky Steen who struck a sweet shot into the far corner of the goal 1-0 Salford.  Once again Becky Steen received a well floated ball over the Rossendale defence from Lyndsey Newman she went for goal and her shot curled round the keeper into the back of the net.  Half-time 2-0.

With Rossendale trailing a more attacking approach was needed to salvage anything from the game in the second half.  This gave Salford the opportunity to counter attack and it was only a good display from the Rossendale keeper that kept the score at 2-0.

Chantelle Hughes showing some much needed composure played the ball wide to Abbie Ordish who in turn played Becky Steen through only for the shot to hit the crossbar but after some good pressure from the rebound the ball was converted by Lyndsey Newman 3-0.

A patient build up from Salford and some good football from Jess Daly and Ranade Coffey Salford won a corner, a terrific ball was sent in by Claire Beard which was cleared by Rossendale only for Rhea Knowles to launch the ball back and Anne Beagan to score an excellent strong direct header 4-0.

For some hard work and good running Katie Winder got her just rewards by grabbing a superb fifth goal, the match was well and truly out of reach for Rossendale.  Full-time 5-0.
