Salford Ladies Reserves 0 - 1 Blackpool

Salford Ladies Reserves loose out to league leaders Blackpool.

Salford welcomed top of the league leaders Blackpool to the ground and as expected Blackpool started well with some slick passing, with only five minutes into the game Salford lost Becky Steen through a reoccurring injury, on came Chelsea Scholes.

Charlotte O’Connor and Chantelle Hughes were commanding in Salford’s central defence along with Claire Beard and Katie Winder on the wings, Salford weathered the storm and stifled Blackpool. Salford started to dominate midfield with Abbie Wynn, Chelsea Scholes, Rhea Knowles and Ranade Coffey playing some good football, Blackpool were put on the back foot and Salford came close with shots from Abbie Wynn and Isha Mundell.  Half-time 0–0.

The second half started much like the first with Blackpool coming close the Salford keeper Leanne Jones pulled off two good saves, some first class defending by Charlotte O’Connor and Holly Ramsden continued to frustrate Blackpool.  Salford conceded a corner and an unfortunate mix up in the Salford defence gave Blackpool an easy headed goal, from then on Salford continued to dominate the game in every area of the pitch.  Abbie Wynn and Chelsea Scholes bombarded Blackpool with shot after shot just firing wide of the goal and two shots from Isha Mundell were saved by the keeper, with two minutes remaining Anne Beagan had the keeper to beat she chipped the ball over the keeper only for it to tip the crossbar.  Full-time 0–1.
