Salford was looking for back-to-back wins for the first time since the opening two games of the season.
The home team started brightly, creating several chances in the early exchanges. The best falling to Isha Mundell. A neat through pass left the Salford forward one-on-one with the Blackpool keeper, but a weak shot was easily saved.
Salford continued to dominate with Blackpool firmly rooted to their own half. Twenty two minutes into the game Chloe Llewellyn tried her luck from the edge of the box, chipping the ball high, with the Blackpool keeper struggling the ball dipped just under the cross bar and into the back of the net giving Salford the lead, 1-0.
Blackpool began to get into the game creating a few chances themselves the best brilliantly saved by returning goalkeeper Joanne Phillips, determined to keep a clean sheet. Just before the break Salford had some chances to add to their lead but unfortunately couldn't convert, they were still lacking that killer instinct in front of goal that had cost them in recent games. Half time 1-0.
Salford began the second half the same as the first, piling the pressure on the visitors looking to add to their lead. Once again a neat through ball left Isha Mundell one-on-one with the keeper and this time she coolly lofted the ball over the keeper and into the back of the net, 2-0.
Salford continued to dominate and grabbed a third from a set piece, another good delivery from a corner by Lyndsey Newman found the head of Clare Daly only for the Salford right back to hit the post, Fay Abrehart was on hand to score the rebound, 3-0.
A few more chances were created by Salford, Chloe Llewellyn coming close with a twenty yard drive, Abbie Wynn twice coming close with headers and another with a left foot strike from the edge of the box, Lyndsey Newman scuffed a shot from just inside the area and Charlotte O’Connor and Holly Ramsden long range efforts were blocked and charged down, Clare Daly heading wide from a corner couldn't add to the Salford lead.
The match was marred late on with a player from each side ‘sent off’. A scuffle erupted into a minor brawl with the Blackpool winger throwing a few half-hearted punches fortunately none connecting with the Salford right back Clare Daly. The Blackpool player was rightfully dismissed but to everyone's amazement so was Clare Daly, an unbelievable decision.
With Salford still confused at the recent decision, Blackpool began to play better football, they created some good chances but once again Joanne Phillips pulled off a sensational save to keep her clean sheet in tact. Full Time 3-0.
Player of the Match was Chloe Llewellyn who showed fantastic energy and determination, deservedly scoring the opening goal and was unlucky not to have scored a second late in the second half.
