Morley Spurs 2 - 3 Salford Ladies

Salford went in to the away game with Morley Spurs on the back of some dismal form, taking just one point from three games. With confidence low Salford knew this was going to be a tough game with newly promoted Morley.

Salford started the game nervously with Morley putting the away team on the back foot with some neat football. Morley took the lead after ten minutes, taking advantage of some poor defending. A cute through pass was coolly finished off by the Morley forward, chipping the ball over the Salford keeper, 1-0.

Within a few minutes Salford responded.  Abbie Wynn, getting past the Morley defence neatly turned the full back on the edge of the penalty area and delivered a perfect cross for Chloe Llewellyn to score a classy header, 1-1.

Morley retook the lead on the half hour mark. Some rash defending on the edge of the Salford penalty area resulting in a free kick, which was comfortably converted, 2-1.

Salford began to get into the game with some neat football of their own, creating a few half chances, and just before half time Chelsea Scholes found herself clear of the Morley defence, cleverly chipping the keeper to equalise, 2-2  HALF TIME.

After some stern words at the break, Salford started with a different attitude. Straight from the whistle on the attack, creating several chances in the early moments as Morley couldn't get out of their own half.  Half way through the second half after a goalmouth scramble the ball broke to Charlotte O'Connor, who smashed the ball home to give Salford the lead, much to the relief of everyone, 2-3.

Salford continued to dominate the second half and was unlucky not to add to their lead.  2-3 FULL TIME.

After the game manager Gareth Wynn was full of praise for the team especially team captain Fay Abrehart who had an outstanding game, showing the attitude, commitment, passion and desire that makes her the first name on the team sheet every week.
