A successful season all round this year, with the First Team finishing in third place in the Womens Northern Combination League and the Reserve Team finishing in mid table respectfully in their first season.
The high expectations at the start of the campaign weren't quite achieved with promotion a step too far this term. The formation of the reserve team although tough to begin with, flourished in the later stages of the season and the future looks bright as we look to expand next year. The season's high for me was the impressive victory over the league champions Leeds City Vixens. The victory for our team who ran out 4-1 winners would turn out to be the champions only defeat of the season and the only time they would drop any points.
The low point was losing three players early in the season which would see them miss the remainder of the year. Hopefully, Amy Bell, Becky Stein, and Kiosha McIntosh will return fitter and stronger in time for the start of the 2009/10 campaign.
Congratulations to Fay Abrehart who won Manager's Player of The Year, Claire Harrop who won Players's Player of The Year, Chelsea Scholes who won Young Players's Player of the Year, Clare Daly who won Most Improved Player of the Year, Isha Mundell who won Top Goalscorer, Katie Winder who won Reserve Manager's Player of The Year, Siobhan Prescott who won Reserve Players's Player of The Year and Anne Beagan who won Reserve Top Goalscorer.
The club's ambitions next season will not relinquish. We will work hard in the summer to build on what we have already achieved and look to become even stronger. When the season starts every position is available and it will be up to the players who want be involved whether they are new additions or those among the current crop of players to earn their place.
