Crosby Stuart 4 - 5 Salford Ladies Reserves

What A Cracking Match!
If you were looking for a game of football to watch you needn't have gone to Old Trafford this weekend, Crosby Stuart and Salford Ladies Reserves laid on a cracker of a match with both teams determined to take the three points.

The game started off at a blistering pace with first blood to Crosby Stuart.  A through ball past the Salford defence and Crosby Stuart's striker was one on one with the Salford keeper, diving to make the save Sam Chesters was unfortunate not to grasp the ball, 1-0 Crosby Stuart.

Salford began to pressure Crosby Stuart and was rewarded for their persistence when Clare Daly was brought down in the penalty area, up stepped Lyndsey Newman to put the ball in the back of the net, 1-1.

Once again Salford put the pressure on and with a scramble inside the Crosby penalty area Jodie Warburton knocked the ball past the keeper, the lead was short lived with some tough defending from Crosby, they broke through and lobbed the Salford keeper.  Half-time 2-2.

The home side came out in the second half with a renewed determination, their endeavours soon paid off and Salford found themselves 3-2 down and within minutes Crosby Stuart scored a fourth.

Salford found the kind of character money can't buy and launched a fierce attack on Crosby Stuart.  Salford were awarded a free kick when Clare Daly was brought down from a heavy tackle just outside the penalty area, once again Lyndsey Newman stepped up and put the ball in the top corner leaving the Crosby Stuart keeper no chance, 4-3.

Pushing Salford on, the captain Katie Winder launched the ball into the eighteen yard box where Chantelle Hughes battled away to score the equaliser,4-4.  Salford weren't finished, the sweetest goal came when Hannah Denholm knocked the ball into a crowded penalty area and Siobhan Prescott took a touch and smacked it into the top corner, 4-5.

Crosby Stuart battled away, the match ended the same way it began, with the Crosby Stuart striker once again finding herself one on one with Sam Chesters the Salford keeper but Sam was having none of it and produced a brilliant save. Final Score 4-5.
