S a l f o r d L a d i e s F o o t b a l l C l u b are an amateur football club with two female open age teams. Their home ground is at Salford Sports Village the £4.7m state of the art sports development which is situated in the heart of Salford on Littleton Road. Salford Ladies play in the Northern Women's Combination League and the Lancashire County FA Women's League, both of which are incorporated in the Women's Football Pyramid in England and Wales.
The Ladies football club started life as Sale United back in the 1990's, changing it's name to Trafford Ladies, then to Stretford Victoria Ladies. Under the managementship of Gareth Wynn they became the champions of the North West Women's Regional League winning promotion into the Northern Women's Combination League in the season of 2006/07. In the summer of 2007 the ladies changed their name to Salford Ladies FC which seemed more appropriate since they are based in the heart of Salford.
Since winning promotion to the Northern Women's Combination League Salford Ladies have twice won through to the final of the Lancashire County Women's Cup where on both occassions they have been runners up to their opponents Blackburn Rovers Ladies who play in the National Premier League.
In 2008 Manchester City Ladies FC were left stunned after losing the Manchester Cup Final 3-2 to Salford Ladies after extra time and in the Umbro International Cup 2009 Final Salford Ladies finished runners up to Liverpool Ladies, both results being a massive acheivement for Salford Ladies Football Club.
